Looking after your pooch’s teeth
When we have a pet, we often think about the main things we need to purchase for them such as food, treats, a bed and a collar / lead. It is easy to forget that although these may be the more essential items that you need from the start, dental hygiene is also very important and not to be overlooked. Many of us simply think that by giving our dog a chew stick that is made for dental health every morning is enough to ward off bad teeth but this is often not the case. Some breeds in particular are renowned for having bad teeth and you must keep on top of them from an early age. You can buy supplements that you can add to the dogs water or that you can apply directly to the teeth to try and kill off any bad bacteria, but the best way to look after your dogs dental hygiene is to brush there teeth every day with a soft brush and some dog safe toothpaste.
Left untreated, teeth cleaning can often cost is excess of £300 at the vets and usually requires extractions if the teeth are already in a bad way.
