Dental care for dogs
Although we may remember to brush our own teeth twice a day, when it comes to our pets it can sometimes go by the wayside. It is very important to look after your pet’s teeth and gums. Dogs and cats can suffer with bad teeth and sometimes despite trying to look after them, if the condition is hereditary, it may be inevitable that they are going to need more than just a brush.
If you notice that your dog’s breath is starting to smell or that they have got wobbly teeth, then it is definitely time to make a visit to the vets.
Often to clean a dog’s teeth properly, they will need to be put under aesthetic. The vet can then remove any build up of plaque and also extract any teeth that need to be removed. This process may need to be repeated every few years to really keep on top of the teeth. IT often costs around £260-£300 for the procedure but you may also need to pay for medicine to take home. Some vets will offer a fixed price for the dental procedure whereas others will have a base price but will then charge extra per extraction. This can bump the price up a lot and leave you will a bill for £400 plus.
