Doggy steps!

When you own a puppy, a small or elderly dog, they are largely dependent on your support. Especially when it comes to climbing up onto the sofa for a cuddle! A puppy or a small dog may simply not be able to reach due to their size, where as an elderly dog is cautious about attempting it, or may no longer have the agility or strength to do so.
So the invention of the ‘doggy step’ – you can get steps or ramps is a bit like giving assisted living aids to elderly people and therefore returning some of their independence.
Elderly dogs are unfortunately susceptible to arthritis and fragile bones which can mean they can get a bad injury from simply jumping down off the sofa. To remove this risk you can either pick them up and place them down or introduce the ‘doggy step’.

Unfortunately this accessory can take some getting used to and some are more stable than others. So that your pet learns to accept and use this, we definitely suggest that you ensure it is level and does not wobble otherwise this could make your elderly pet nervous.
