Keep your cat safe and warm this winter
Most cats do not seem to like the winter months and prefer to stay indoors during the cold and wet days that are a frequent occurrence at this time of the year. However, if your cat does want to venture outside how can you make sure that they are safe and are their ways of persuading them that indoors is best.
Icy temperatures can cause a cat to suffer from frostbite and hypothermia if they cannot find shelter so if you are out during the day it is important to have a cat flap so that your cat can get back indoors or a type of shelter outdoors with towels or blankets that they can use if they are cold. During the night when the temperature often plunges they need to be able to get indoors where they will be warm and dry.
To encourage your cat to stay indoors provide them with fresh food and water daily and plenty of cat toys and activities so that they are not bored and are more likely to want to stay inside. A warm bed is a favourite spot for a cat especially if it is next to a radiator or even a hammock attached to the radiator keeping them cosy and warm.
