Things to consider before buying a dog
There are many reasons why someone decides to buy a dog perhaps it may be for companionship if the owner is on their own or has a partner who works away a lot of the time. It could be that an older dog has died, and the owner is so used to having the company of a dog that they long for another pet. Many people decide to have a dog to encourage them to take regular walks and meet other dog walkers whatever the reason it is important to look at your lifestyle to see whether a dog still fits in and if you have the time and space that a dog needs.
The cost of owning a dog can be quite high if you are a responsible dog owner and make sure that your dog has its inoculations and is treated regularly for fleas and worms. Visits to the vets can be pricey so it is a good idea to take out pet insurance so that if your dog is ill or has an accident the vet’s bills are covered.
If you enjoy regular holidays then you will need to consider what will happen to the dog whilst you are away or whether you are going to take the dog with you. The best option is if you have a friend or relative who can look after the dog for you while you are away as using boarding kennels may be expensive if used frequently.
