Is it important to take your dog for a walk every day?
If you have a dog, part of the responsibility you have as an owner is to ensure that they get adequate walks. The amount of exercise they need, depends a lot of the individual dog – the breed and the age. Most dogs need at least one walk a day, but some, especially bigger breads like Alsatians or huskies may need a lot more. Huskies in particular, are known for needing a lot of exercise. They are bred to pull sleighs, so they are by nature, active dogs. You will often find that if your dog is not having enough exercise that it will start to play up. Sometimes they can get a bit distractive and start to chew things out of boredom. If you notice this behaviour start to happen then try and increase the number of walks they have or the amount of time you take them and see if this makes a difference. If your dog is getting older then it is still important to take them out for walks but you may need to make them a little shorter and do not get them to run as much. If they have arthritis then you may want to seek the advice of a vet as to how much exercise is suitable.
